I was looking though an old photo album of mine and I found a picture of my cat, Toby posing with the play-dead-and-they-wont-see-me look. That was the day we got the loving sweet pet we’ve come to know.

Before I go any further, I must tell you what he looks like! Toby is a one year old black exotic cat that we, our family, got from my aunt. He has a broad upper body with wine bottle green eyes. Like a good cat, he loves on us but always likes to sneak outside to get a whiff of the cold and refreshing air. Another trait he has is to be a feisty kitten, but I think it’s just because he’s still little. Despite his I-am-king-of-the-world attitude, he still is a loving and pleasant cat.

One day, my sister and I decided it would be funny to buy potent catnip from the store. Once we got it, we decided to stiff the clover looking plant ourselves, and it was strong! When we finally got home, all three of our cats sensed the catnip. My older two cats quickly ignored the smell, but Toby didn’t. Sprinting, Toby ran up to us, looked at me, and let out a meow that could deafen a rock! To satisfy the exotic cat, we set the catnip down on the floor where he could interact with it. At first, he acted confused and not sure what to do with this strange reward. We’re not sure why he did it, but he started to eat some of the plant like it was Cheese Its, his favorite snack. Holding on like a lion, Toby refused to be pulled away from the plant. Drunk on catnip, Toby started walking around as if he had been blindfolded and spun around. In fact, I could probably compare him to a cat version of Bob Marley! For some reason he then jumped on the cough and literally passed out. Five minutes later, he awoke from his drug-induced sleep and it looked like he got hit by a train. Stumbling, he dismounted the couch, walked over to the fireplace where he started to attack the wall as if it was his enemy. Slowly, Toby became calm. The catnip had worn off. Our kitten, Toby, is currently 2 years old. We still wonder what he’ll get into next.
